Kinawley just lost out by a single point to Dunloy in the Ulster Intermediate Championship.

Dunloy were first off the blocks with 2  Brendan  McGarry points in the first 10 minutes, they were dominant in the 1st quarter & should've been further in front but for woeful shooting .Shaun Doherty steadied the ship for Kinawley on 15 minutes with a pointed free which was quickly followed with a Sean Leonard (Blk) point. Dunloy finished the half the strongest with 3 more points from McGarry (1 from a free) & a John McFerran point to make it Dunloy 0.6 - Kinawley 0.2 at half time.

Second half saw a more purposeful Kinawley team who scored 3 points in first 5 minutes,  2 Doherty frees & a point from Shea Keenan which brought them back to within a point. Dunloy went on the attack & 2 point blank saves from Darren Boyle broke the ball to the in running John McFerran who scored into the roof of the Kinawley net, this was to be their only score of the half.   Kinawley fought back strongly with points from Sean Leonard (Blk) Shaun Doherty 30m free & a point from wing half back Brian Malanaphy. With 5 minutes to go it was all Kinawley and in an attack Tomas Corrigan was dragged down in possession  on the 14 m line but strangely the Down referee Ciaran Branigan consulted his umpire & changed his decision to a throw-up. A last minute long-ball from Mark Monaghan was fisted goalward by Shea Keenan it rebounded off the crossbar, above the bar would've drawn the game, below would've given Kinawley a deserved victory. The referee blew his whistle after 1 minute of extra time. Unfortunately lady luck didn't shine on Kinawley but they can be proud of putting in a good show of themselves.
