Kinawley got their Senior league 2008 campaign off to a winning start when they travelled to Belleek for the friday evening fixture. Kinawley are this year are under under new management of Mickey Fox with selectors Kevin Gilleece & James Owens.

Erne Gaels got off the mark first with a converted 14 metre free, Kinawleys first score was on 8th minutes a goal from Shea Keenan who reacted quickest to poke the ball into the net after Erne Gaels failed to deal with a long range free. Seamus Ryder immediately replied with a point for Belleek who always looked strong when attacking although their finishing let them down. On 15 mins' Tomás Corrigan pointed a free & shortly after Shaun Doherty ran straight through the Belleek defence & drilled a low hard shot into the net. Sean Leonard put over a free & a great point from play out on the wing & and Corrigan added another point, Colin Ferguson got a late point for Belleek but Kinawley went in at half time 2-04 to 0-03 up.

The second half saw a much more purposeful Belleek effort emerge with Mark Lyons pushing through twice from midfield to put over 2 good points, Seamus Ryder at full forward & substitute Sean Sands scored two apiece as well. Corrigan scored a 30m free early on in the 2nd half but this was to be Kinawleys only score for about 25 minutes, until Shea Keenan settled the Kinawley nerves with a well taken point. Erne Gaels dominated the second half of the game but could'nt get scores on the board registering 14 wides to 5. Kinawleys defence proved strong with a great performance from Conor McBarron in the full back position, further up Sean McManus had a good showing after been introduced as a sub', Sean Leonard (Rua) & Shaun Doherty putting in good performances also.
