Coa have proved beyond doubt that they are well capable of holding their own in the second division and they were moments away from collecting their third win of the campaign, denied that by a last minute point from Kinawley.

Coa had been the side who had been looking that little bit sharper all through. They held a one point lead at the break and generally pushed the issue all through the second.

They had not been able however to shake off a committed Kinawley team who were given a shake up with the arrival of Tomas Corrigan at the interval.

Corrigan was to shoot a number of points for his side but the Brian Boru's were given a nasty jolt some six to seven minutes from full time when Coa broke in for a goal, Leon Carters snapping up the score which jumped them three points clear.

Unhappily for Coa they were not to have time to build on this as Kinawley responded almost at once with a goal in reply, Shaun Doherty swivelling past his marker before striking home a neat shot.

For a few minutes the sides were unable to add to their tally but then Coa nudged in front once more with a point from Lee McQuaid.

Again it seemed to be just enough to get Coa over the winning line, but Kinawley who had been battling gamely all through had enough resolve to launch a late series of attacks and their determination was to be rewarded by a last gasp equaliser popped over by Corrigan.

For Coa, Darren McQuaid was a strong force in the full forward line before being switched out to midfield after Eoin Donnelly suffered an injury which cramped his contribution.

Mark Carters was another to shine for Coa at corner back but overall this was another highly encouraging team performance from the division's new boys.

First half points for them came from Cathal Beacom, Lee and Darren McQuaid with Shaun Doherty providing the bulk of the Kinawley five point first half response. The arrival of Corrigan did help spread the Kinawley scoring base while for Coa, second half points came from Darren McQuaid, Cathal Beacom and Eoin Donnelly with the late goals giving the game an absorbing finale.
