Ó Choiste agus ó bhaill Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Cill Náile. Is oth linn bás Uinseann Ó hUaine agus déanaimid comhbhrón lena theaglach. Ar dheis lamh Dé go raibh a anam uasal. Kinawley Brian Borus this week mourn the passing of one of their greatest ever footballers Vincie Greene. Vincie passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday 6th October aged 67, he had just returned home from the Intermediate final in Patrick McManus Park Kinawley.
Vincie was a late starter to football & he never kicked a ball till he was eighteen years old. He made his debut for Fermanagh in 1960 and also on that team were Benny Murphy, Gerry Owens, Aidan Curry, Joe McHugh & Terry McManus. In 1962 Vincie played on the Kinawley Senior Championship team that got to the Final only to be beaten by Roslea. Vincie played competitive football up until 1974, he came out of retirement that year to play in some great tussles with Belnaleck in the Intermediate Championship Final, this marathon game went to two replays before Belnaleck were the victors. A large crowd attended his funeral in Kinawley on Monday 9th October and members of Mount Lourdes Grammar school, Kinawley 1962 team and current playing members and officers of Kinawley GFC provided guards of honour. |
