Kinawley won their first Intermediate Championship since 1988 in a tense thrilling game. One of the best Kinawley performances in years saw the Borus emerge victors. Early scores from Sean Leonard (Rua) & Sean Hussey in the first 5 minutes settled the nerves of Kinawley but Ederney responded with a goal from Enda Ferris.

Points from the two Sean Leonards put Kinawley narrowly back in the lead with 10 minutes played. St Josephs then had their best passage of play scoring 3 points without reply to put them 1.3 – 0.4 up with 15 minutes played. Tomás Corrigan & Sean Leonard (Blk) got points for Kinawley but 3 more from Ederney and a pointed free from Shaun Doherty in injury time left it St Josephs 1-6 Kinawley 0-7 at half time.

St Josephs got off the blocks first with 2 early points to put them 4 up but Kinawley responded well with 4 points in a row from Shea Keenan , Shaun Doherty & 2 from Sean Leonard (Rua).  Darren McCusker pushed Ederney ahead again in the final quarter with a point. Kinawley then had a free which looked inside the post ruled out by the umpire but they drew the game again with a point from Sean Leonard (Rua) and one each from Sean Crudden (sub for Keenan) & Tomás Corrigan to put Kinawley in the driving seat with time almost up. Ederney got a late point & this was replied at the death with a free from Kinawleys man of the match Sean Leonard (Rua). The final whistle when it came was received with much celebrations from the large & very vocal Kinawley supporters. County chairman Peter Carty presented the Intermediate Championship trophy to Kinawleys captain Shaun Doherty. Kinawley now go on to represent Fermanagh in Ulster & also have secured Senior Championship status for next year. Final score Kinawley 0.15 –  St Josephs 1.10
