A Chara, Our Dinner Dance held in the Westville Hotel on Saturday 11th February, proved to be a lovely night for everyone, and thanks to all who attended and those who helped to organise it. Many thanks to our distinguished guests, Peter & Mary Quinn and Pete McGrath, who took time out to attend on the night and assisted with the presentations and thanks also for their words of encouragement.
This annual event took place in Kinawley Community Hall on Saturday 7th January and it was heart-warming to see such a big turnout.
The various youth teams won six competitions in 2016, a fantastic achievement for a small club.
Thanks to Donncha O’Cathain (Vice Chairman) for MC duties on the night and to everyone who helped out in any way, from decorating the hall, printing out certificates, providing refreshments or presenting awards. Thanks also to Mark Monaghan and Paddy McGovern for representing management and county football, both role models for our young footballers.
Each team manager gave a brief rundown of how their team had developed over the year and how the panels had developed.
As we all know, 2016 was one of the most memorable years in the club’s history for what was achieved on the pitch. To win one trophy in any year normally suggests success.
To win 4 at adult level and a further 6 at underage is something that will be hard to surpass in future, though it won’t be for the want of trying I hope. Competing in an Ulster final as well further highlights the hard work and ability that the club displayed.
